About the Item

Adolphe Nicolas Joseph BOIGEGRAIN Bourbonne-les-Bains 1870 - Le Kremlin-Bicêtre 1957 Still lifes with daffodils and glazed stoneware Circa 1905 Oil on canvas Signed and dated lower right ( the date is difficult to read) 52 x 44 cm 66 x 57 cm framed Beautiful modern Degas frame, ivory color Although completely forgotten today, Boigegrain was nonetheless a talented painter, as evidenced by the high quality of this still life. The subtle harmony of the white, blue, and green colors is quite remarkable and gives it a great sense of modernity. Little information is available about the artist, except that he exhibited interior scenes and still lifes at the Salon d'Automne and the Salon des Indépendants between 1902 and 1912. The artist seems to have been influenced both by the intimate decorative painting of Vuillard and Bonnard and by Impressionist painting.
