French Mid Century oil on board still life by Charles Imbert. The painting is signed bottom left and presented in a Mid-Century gold wood frame. A colourful kitchen scene of bright red peppers in a dish on a table top waiting to be char grilled and prepared. The skillet pan is visible in the background as is a Kilner jar all ready to store the cooked vegetables. Imbert has cleverly used the touches of red in the tea cloth, the pan handle and an onion to echo the colour of the peppers. This carries our eye around the painting. The folds of the cloth are beautifully handled and add to the feeling of perspective and depth in the painting.
