About the Artist Henrik Gamst Jespersen (1853–1936) was a distinguished Danish landscape painter born in Undløse, Denmark, and later active in Frederiksberg, Copenhagen. He initially trained as a merchant before devoting himself entirely to painting. In 1878, Jespersen began studying under the celebrated Danish landscape painter Wilhelm Kyhn, one of the leading figures of the Danish Golden Age tradition, and later attended the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen.
