About the Item

Back in the spring of 2025, Robin Rice visited the studio of John Dolan and Michele O’Hana, and she experienced a lightbulb moment. She imagined a family collaboration. The result is HOME, a deeply personal, immersive exhibition that explores the meaning of home through the diverse but interconnected practices of John Dolan, fine art photography, Michele O’Hana, interior designer, textiles, ceramics, and weaving, and Jack Dolan, blacksmith, hand-forged knives. The show brings together three artists—two parents and a son—in a celebration of craft, memory, and place. John Dolan, an acclaimed photographer and educator, brings more than three decades of experience capturing the quiet moments that define a life. Known for his work with high-profile clients like Gwyneth Paltrow, Michelle Williams, and Jerry Seinfeld, Dolan's work straddles the worlds of fine art, editorial, and commercial photography. He taught at ICP in New York for 15 years and continues his workshops in the Berkshires. His 2021 monograph The Perfect Imperfect: The Wedding Photographs of John Dolan (Damiani Books) speaks to his ongoing fascination with human connection, beauty, and the fleeting nature of time. In HOME, his photographs from Ireland, the Hudson Valley, and elsewhere, bring a quiet, reverent sense of place—both as document and as dreamscape. This marks Dolan’s third exhibition at the Robin Rice Gallery.
