An original acrylic painting on board titled “Tete” by Karel Appel. Executed in 1968. Hand signed lower right. The composition features a boldly abstracted face rendered with thick, gestural brushwork and saturated areas of green, blue, pink, yellow, and white. Appel was a founding member of the CoBrA movement, and this painting reflects the group’s emphasis on spontaneity, color, and expressive form. Provenance: From a private estate in Birmingham, MI. Originally acquired from the J.L. Hudson Gallery in 1972 (see documentation in listing). Dimensions: 26.25”h x 19.25”w x 1.5”d (framed) / 21"h x 13.5"w (painting size). Condition: The surface shows intentional texture, visible brushstrokes, and areas of impasto consistent with Appel’s working method. Condition appears consistent with age and materials, with no visible structural damage. Full condition reports available upon request.
