Basset Hounds Original Chromolithograph from Cassell's Illustrated Book of the Dog Date: circa 1880 Original chromolithograph colour print on paper, mounted in frame and under glass. Framed: 15 × 19 inches Print size: 7 × 9 inches Provenance: formerly the property of British businessman, Sir Graham Wylie. Condition: very good overall condition. A fine original chromolithograph depicting a group of three Basset Hounds, published in Cassell's Illustrated Book of the Dog circa 1880. The composition beautifully captures the breed's distinctive long ears, short legs and expressive features, set within a natural woodland landscape. Produced using the finest chromolithographic printing techniques of the Victorian period, the print displays rich colour, exceptional detail and outstanding decorative appeal. Beautifully presented within a burr walnut veneered frame and mounted beneath glass, this attractive canine print would make a superb addition to a collection of sporting dog art, Victorian prints or country house interiors. The distinguished provenance, having formerly belonged to British businessman Sir Graham Wylie, further enhances its desirability.
