Onyx Sleeve is an expertly crafted, embossed serigraph on paper with foil stamping and an image size of 13.5 x 13.5 inches. From the edition of 650, the art is numbered 184/300 and estate-stamped 'Erté' lower right (there were also 300 Roman and 50 AP). Framed in a classic 'reed and ribbon' gold-tone moulding. Onyx Sleeve is one of four serigraphs in Erté’s ‘Fashion and Jewelry Suite II.’ The suite showcases four of the most exquisite Erté designs that sprang from his twenty-two year association with Harper’s Bazaar. His drawings for the magazine sparked the creation of innumerable fashion designs for some of the world’s most glamorous women, among them designs for jewelry and fashion accessories. Onyx Sleeve is based on a 1922 design for a bracelet with pearls and polished jade. Two silver bracelets, one at the wrist and the other at the top of the arm suspend between them delicate strands of onyx and silver beads to cleverly create a sleeve of adornment emblematic of the genius of Erté and his visionary ideas. Martin Lawrence Galleries is an affiliate of Erté's publisher Chalk & Vermilion Fine Arts. This print is therefore as new, with no prior ownership, coming straight from the publisher.
