About the Item

'Bibendum' by Michael Wallner [2019] limited_edition Brushed aluminium Edition number 25 Image size: H:60 cm x W:100 cm Complete Size of Unframed Work: H:60 cm x W:100 cm x D:0.3cm Sold Unframed Please note that insitu images are purely an indication of how a piece may look. "'Bibendum', or Michelin House is one of my favourite buildings in London, dating back to 1911. It was originally the headquarters of the famous tyre company." This piece is created from an original photograph of the beautifully Art Deco building. The photograph is digitally manipulated to trace the outlines and then painstakingly coloured. It is then printed directly onto a delicate sheet of aluminum, which gives the piece an etched appearance. The vivid blue/purple sky contrasts beautifully with the silver of the aluminium. Bibendum is made to order. It can usually be created in around 2 weeks. An aluminium subframe on the back makes it incredibly easy to hang. Michael Wallner has original artworks for sale with Wychwood Art both in their art gallery and online. Michael has spent more than twenty years in the media industry working on entertainment programmes, talk shows, documentaries, animations and a children’s novel. But creating original and innovative art is his true passion. His latest work celebrates the beauty of the city through the shapes, outlines and colours that define its character. London, New York, Hong Kong, Singapore, Miami, Paris and Dubai all feature in Michael’s portfolio. The art is created by digitally manipulating and colouring his own photographs to produce unusual prints on aluminium, reclaimed wood, brass, even 1930’s copper-lite windows. He also creates neon, magnetic, and L.E.D installations. The metal pieces are printed on very thin sheets of brushed aluminium, giving the work an etched appearance. Michael works out of his studio at Wimbledon Art Studios in South London. Recent exhibitions include The Affordable Art Fair (Battersea, Hampstead, Singapore, New York, Milan), The Other Art Fair, and The Open Studios Show at Wimbledon Art Studios.

City of Surprises is created from an original photograph taken from Greenwich Park. It features one of my favourite views of the London skyline - boasting some of the city’s most famous landmarks in a single line with one small difference - for legal reasons. The London Eye, Shard, BT Tower, St Paul’s Cathedral, and the Cheesegrater are all there, alongside one building that I’ve been asked not to feature in my work by its lawyers. Can you spot it? I love the shapes of the view’s outline so I have replaced the building that shall not be named with the head of shark. The ‘new’ London skyline is then laser-cut into gold mirror. City of Surprises is made to order. It can usually be created and delivered in around 3 weeks. Michael Wallner has artworks for sale online and in our gallery with Wychwood Art. The sheer scale of it’s beauty and design is breathtaking. Opened in 1913 it sums up everything I love about New York - the hustle and bustle, the colour and the stunning architecture. This piece is created from an original photograph and painstakingly coloured digitally by hand, including every person on the concourse and the exquisite ceiling. The image is printed directly onto a thin sheet of aluminium which gives it an etched appearance, picking out the beautiful details of the station. Grand Central Station is made to order. It can usually be created and delivered in around 10-14 days. An aluminium subframe on the back makes it easy to hang.
