A finely detailed stipple engraving by William Holl the Younger (1807-1871) after Richard Westall (1765-1836). The work depicts a scene from classical mythology, where the wild boar that killed Adonis, Venus's mortal lover, is brought before the grief-stricken goddess. Inscriptions below the image. Well presented in a black frame with gilt running patterns. On laid. Image size: 66 x 50.5cm.
