About the Item

La Maison Rose is an archival digital pigment print on canvas created with hand-made serigraph texture plates, signed ‘Kondakova’ in the right corner and numbered 141/295 in the left corner. From the total edition of 325 (there were also 25 AP and 5 HC). Framed in a contemporary, gold-tone frame. This lovely Parisian landmark in Montmartre radiates with the romantic light and color that Kondakova collectors prize. In Kondakova’s world, Paris glows – like a rare diamond, a burning candle, or the face of someone in love. In the day it shines with the energy of excitement, the passionate nature of its inhabitants, and the grandeur of its famous landmarks. At night, it’s nothing short of dazzling – the same landmarks lit for maximum dramatic effect, the cozy glow of inviting interiors, and the skyline, illuminated and glittering against the nighttime sky. Kondakova lavishes detail on the street posters, greenery and flowers, and every cobblestone lit by the streetlamp, creating a dreamy impression of this famous café. “At times, almost any visual tour-de-force seems possible in Kondakova’s inspired repertory of images; they seem to reflect an impossibly wonderful, but still quite concrete and visible, parallel universe. The sense of time, in the modern sense, is less important than atmosphere and emotion, which colors everything she shows in such disarmingly, diligently observed detail. One is persuaded that she is, in fact, rendering quite faithfully something actually before her, yet nothing is quite as it seems to other viewers, or even to the camera’s lens.” – Professor Sam Hunter (Liudmila Kondakova – A World of Enchantment) Liudmila Kondakova was born in Russia and trained at Moscow’s leading art academies before immigrating to the United States. Her meticulous technique, rooted in the traditions of medieval icon painters, brings extraordinary clarity and light to her work. Kondakova is celebrated for transforming the romance of Parisian streets, city skylines, and everyday details into luminous, poetic scenes. Each painting is rich with storytelling, inviting viewers to discover beauty in the small moments that define life. Collected worldwide, her original paintings and limited editions combine timeless craftsmanship with a modern sensibility, captivating both seasoned collectors and those new to fine art. As the artist herself notes: “The essence and beauty has always rested in the details.”
