About the Item

Hand-Embellished Print on Archival Bamboo Paper with Unique Painted Stencil Signed and Numbered Edition of 25 with 5 APs Movement: Contemporary / Post-Graffiti / Finish Fetish Item Description: This striking work by legendary Los Angeles artist Kelly "RISK" Graval serves as a masterclass in the "Finish Fetish" and "Light and Space" movements that defined Southern California art. Rooted in his 30-year history as a pioneer of the West Coast graffiti scene, this piece showcases RISK’s evolution from the freeway overpasses of LA to the precision of high-tech studio practice. The work features an ethereal juxtaposition of advanced color theory and experimental materials. Utilizing transparent kandy paints, metal flakes, and pearl lacquers typically found in California’s custom car and surf culture, RISK builds the surface in meticulous layers. The result is a luminous, atmospheric depth where vibrant gradations are "trapped" beneath a glass-like resin finish. True to his "organized chaos" philosophy, the piece balances the raw energy of his aerosol roots with a sophisticated, fine-art sensibility. It is an exploration of light, materiality, and the intersection of street culture and contemporary conceptualism. This Limited edition Hand embellished print is evidence of that.

His poetic imagination is visualised through layers of text and visual cues including symbols and iconic brands and figures. He says his work is a “conversation of colours”, with its distinctive style identified by the raw strokes of paint. Each piece is designed to have a positive influence on the viewer.
