ZERO'S FRIEND is an original hand drawn lithograph by the renowned American Pop artist, Peter Max, printed in 1980 in an edition of 165, using traditional hand lithography techniques on archival paper, 100% acid free. ZERO'S FRIEND is a black line drawing Pop Art portrait set against a white background with freely drawn vertical lines in alternating colors of yellow and blue. Peter Max's adept use of rainbow colors in shades of light blue, red, magenta pink, yellow, orange, green, and purple fill in and shade the high cheek boned face and Mod style hat of ZERO'S FRIEND, whose appearance is reminiscent of DAVID BOWIE's famed, androgynous glam alter ego character, Ziggy Stardust. Print size - 27.25 x 21.25 inches, unframed, excellent condition, hand signed in black felt pen by Peter Max, dedicated (Printers proof) aside from the edition of 165, from the master printer's private collection Edition size - 165, plus proofs Year published - 1980 Printer - J K Fine Art Editions Co., NY Artist Peter Max was born in 1937, Berlin Germany and spent his childhood in Shanghai. From China, the family went to Tibet for a year, and then on to Israel. Peter Max's family's odyssey continued to Paris, and finally, at the age of 16, Max arrived in the United States. Peter Max began his art studies in New York at the Art Student's League and continued at the Pratt Institute and School of Visual Arts. Peter Max, who is known throughout the world and is a household name in America, is famous for his new age style, cosmic imagery and multi-colored blends. During the late 1960's and early 70's, Peter Max's colorful art reached millions of people and he won numerous major awards for his work. Peter Max's paintings, drawings, sculpture and limited edition graphics have been exhibited in major museums throughout the world.
