His breakthrough piece, The Persistence of Memory (1931), featuring melting clocks in a dreamlike landscape, became a lasting symbol of Surrealism and a visual exploration of time and perception. With a mastery of classical technique and a mind for the fantastical, Dalí blended hyper-realistic detail with impossible, often irrational imagery drawn from dreams, Freudian theory, and personal mythology. His work spanned multiple mediums, including painting, sculpture, film, photography, and even fashion — often pushing boundaries and sparking debate. He collaborated with figures like Alfred Hitchcock (Spellbound) and Walt Disney (Destino), expanding the reach of Surrealism beyond the traditional gallery space. Salvador Dalí was a wealthy artist during his lifetime.
