Most such posters rely on very plain silhouettes, this series - and we have many in this series - have a much more arty approach to the task with shading and an interesting angle view. The Henschel Hs-126 was a German two-seat reconnaissance and observation aircraft of World War II. It was derived from the Henschel Hs-122; the pilot was seated in a protected cockpit under the parasol wing and the gunner in an open rear cockpit. The prototype aircraft frame was that of a H- 122A fitted with a Junkers engine. The Hs-126 was well-received on account of its good short takeoff and its low-speed characteristics (which were needed at the time). It was put into service for a few years, but was soon superseded by the general-purpose, STOL Fieseler Fi-156 Storch and the medium-range Focke-Wulf Fw-189, known as the "flying eye". Late in the war, the Hs-126 was used in glider tug and night ground attack roles, but production of the plane ended in 1941 and the type was retired from the front line in 1942.

Most such posters rely on very plain silhouettes; this series - and we have many in this series - takes a much more arty approach to the task with shading and an interesting angle view. The Fieseler Fi 156 Storch, meaning "stork", was a small German liaison aircraft built by Fieseler before and during World War II. It was notable for its excellent short-takeoff-and-landing performance and low stall speed of 31 mph. The Storch was deployed in all European and North African theaters of World War II. In addition to its liaison function, a number were used to fly a battalion of Infantry Regiment Grossdeutschland behind enemy lines during the invasion of Belgium. In 1943, the Storch played a role in Operation Eiche, the rescue of deposed Italian dictator Benito Mussolini from a boulder-strewn mountain-top near the Gran Sasso...

Most such posters rely on very plain silhouettes, this series - and we have many in this series - have a much more arty approach to the task with shading and an interesting angle view. The Curtiss SOC (also known as the "Seagull") was a biplane scout-observation aircraft that operated from US battleships and cruisers throughout the Second World War, actually outliving two newer aircraft that had been designed to replace it. Before the Soc, the US Navy had operated separate scout and observation aircraft, with the scouts operating from cruisers and the observation aircraft operating from battleships, with the main job of observing and correcting their gunfire. When work on the Soc began it was going to be an observation type, so the prototype was given the designation XO3C-1. The prototype was ordered on 19 June 1933 and made its maiden flight in April 1934. It was a single bay biplane that could operate with a single main central float and stabiliser floats on the lower wing tips, or with wheels. The XO3C-1 was originally built as an amphibian, with twin wheels built into the central float, but this idea was abandoned before the type entered production. Other than the biplane layout the Seagull was quite advanced, with a fully enclosed cockpit for the pilot and gunner and...
