About the Item

Latitude 43 was designed by the avant-garde architect Georges-Henri Pingusson. The building, listed as a historical monument in 1992, is a reference in terms of architecture. This large hotel of 110 rooms, inaugurated on July 14, 1932, was intended to accommodate rich vacationers around leisure, sport, and relaxation. It had a large restaurant and many sports and relaxation facilities (Olympic swimming pool, bar, dance hall and casino). The hotel operated for four seasons before being declared bankrupt and undergoing some transformations. Occupied by the Italian and then the German army, the hotel was used as a headquarters for the American army in August 1944, and then as a rest center until 1947. From 1950, the rooms were sold as apartments. Today the building is privately owned and cannot be visited. Printed by Chachoin in Paris
