About the Item

"Metaphors, symbols, the material world, the collective unconscious and the spiritual realm generate the sources in which I investigate images for the viewer to interact with. Because my work presents composites within each three dimensional form, the viewer is offered many parts or ideas within the integrated whole. Everything in the manifest universe seems to be a complexity of oneness, and this observation is reflected in my work as a sculptor of recombined forms and images of a recognizable but unknown structure.” James Lloyd attended the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and the University of Pennsylvania. For many years Jim tought as a professor while creating his own sculptures. His organic abstractions in steel and bronze are drawn from his childhood love of natural forms. "Nature is my master," says Lloyd. After more than 40 years of education, teaching and establishing a sculpture career throughout Philadelphia and the east Coast, Lloyd now devotes his energy to developing a unique language of sculpture forms, which range in size from hand- held to indoor-outdoor pieces to monumental-sized sculptures appropriate for private, corporate and civic venues.

The sculptures of Damon Hyldreth appear both static and fluid, rigid and flexible, strong and smooth, effectively blurring the line between nature and structure. By crafting organic forms from an obviously man-made metal, Hyldreth creates a unique symbiosis between nature and structure, unifying the sculpture and the surroundings through the free-flowing energy and architecture of his artworks. Keeping in mind the intimate connection between artists and their tools, Hyldreth studies the potential energies of his metals and coaxes out exquisite forms and natural power. Using mainly stainless steel, as well as the occasional bronze and Cor-ten steel, Hyldreth allows his materials to dictate their final shape and become an ultimate collaboration between man and matter. The evocative forms subliminally draw the audience in, giving every viewer a deeply personal experience. In 2004 Damon received his BFA in Sculpture from San Francisco Art Institute in San Francisco, CA. Public and private installations of Hyldreth’s work include the town of Palm Desert, CA, the Four Seasons Hotel in Hong Kong, The W Hotel in Taipei, Taiwan, Trump Hollywood, Hollywood, FL Neiman Marcus, Houston, TX, Soffitel Hotel, Los Angeles, CA and the Westminster Bridge Park Plaza...
