About the Item

Transform your private space with this exquisite, handcrafted abstract wood art panel—a true testament to modernist design. Created by renowned French artist Maxime Tendero (1927-1998) in 1973, this rare sculptural masterpiece captures movement and elegance with a stylized dancing woman, intricately carved from warm-toned cherrywood. Mounted on a wood plank enveloped in soft gray jute, it offers a refined contrast that enhances its sophisticated allure. The engraved signature, "Tendero - 73," located in the bottom right corner, affirms its authenticity, provenance, and artistic heritage. A remarkable fusion of texture, artistry, and timeless appeal, this piece is a rare find that embodies both beauty and craftsmanship. Dimensions: Overall: 15.35 in wide (39 cm) by 31.89 in high (81 cm) by 1.19 in deep (3 cm). Wood panel: 7.28 in wide (18.5 cm) by 21.65 in high (55 cm). Reference: Maxime Tendero (1927-1998) was born in Givors. His parents were of Spanish origin. Before dedicating his life to his art, he held various occupations, including working as a draftsman in the textile industry in Castres. He later worked for architectural companies in Toulouse, Paris, and Carcassonne. Spontaneously and intuitively dedicated to sculpture since childhood, he is a passionate autodidact in this field. Because of health problems, he devoted himself to sculpture in 1964. He worked alone, first in Carcassonne and then near Nice, from 1968. The feminine body is omnipresent, even in abstract forms, revealed by suggestive details or movements. The sculptor fixes without compromise the refined and idealized form in the nudity of the textures: the smoothest of the vein for the marble and the wood of the fruit trees. A hymn to plenitude, Maxime's work speaks singularly of the harmonious collusion between matter and spirit.
