About the Item

Resurrect Studio, “Tabasco,” Vintage Glass Sculpture, 26 x 19 x 12 in. “Tabasco” is a bold and commanding vintage glass sculpture by Resurrect Studio, the collaborative practice of Nancy Wu and Jean Davis. Measuring 26 x 19 x 12 inches, the work is composed of reclaimed Victorian-era glass fragments recovered from historic New York City landfill sites, where discarded glass has been shaped by more than a century of tide, sand, and time. This vertical composition rises with striking energy, combining saturated red glass with vivid greens, deep blue accents, amber tones, and clear textured fragments. The sculpture’s layered, spiraling forms create a sense of upward movement, while the brilliant red panel anchors the work with dramatic intensity. Curved shards, patterned glass, and translucent fragments catch and refract the light, giving the piece a powerful dimensional presence. Resurrect Studio describes its work as “3D watercolors,” and Tabasco brings that idea to life with a fiery palette and intricate construction. The sculpture feels dynamic and almost botanical, as though color and form are growing upward from the reclaimed glass base. Once-discarded materials are transformed into a vibrant contemporary artwork that speaks to renewal, memory, and the unexpected beauty of what has been left behind. Founded in 2021 by Nancy Wu and Jean Davis, Resurrect Studio creates contemporary sculpture from Victorian-era NYC landfill glass. Their work invites viewers to consider how one generation’s waste can become another generation’s gemstone, revealing the transcendent in overlooked materials. 'Maina' is a contemporary abstract cast glass sculpture by David Ruth from his Internal Space series. It features painterly brushstroke formations in glass called trails. Trails are created through rolling molten glass into various forms and shapes. They are then placed within clear glass and fused into one large piece through kiln casting. This technique creates a layered, suspended, and vibrant three-dimensional space within. About the Internal Space Series: David’s experiments with sheet glass and fusing led him to try to make the glass thicker to see more interior space. It was during this time a professor pointed out that he was working with a metaphor, for which the internal space of the glass was the equivalent to the internal life of the mind. This became his operating mantra but also forced him to come to terms with the casting of thick sections. “Creating those internal spaces came with some problems. Other than telescope mirrors, I did not know that anyone annealed glass in a kiln for more than a day or two. When pieces cracked after five...
