Tyler James Goin is a Vancouver-based sculptor whose practice bridges the industrial and the organic through clay and metal. Working under the studio name Noise Assembly, Goin explores the dialogue between engineered precision and human gesture, creating works that exist at the intersection of sculpture, craft, and design. Trained as a millwright machinist, Goin spent more than a decade apprenticing with sculptor Tony Bloom, developing a foundation of mechanical expertise that continues to inform his material process. His approach merges industrial technique with an intuitive sensitivity to surface, weight, and balance, a language of making that values both precision and imperfection. His Pacific Northwest Vessel Series, crafted from reclaimed stoneware and glaze, reflects the time he spent along the shorelines of Clayoquot Sound on Vancouver Island. Layered surfaces evoke the mineral and tidal rhythms of the coast, while his Extruded Series employs a self-built clay extrusion machine assembled from salvaged industrial components, transforming mechanical action into sculptural expression. Each work is stamped, signed, and numbered by the artist, and every piece is unique and one of a kind. Goin has exhibited in New York and Los Angeles and is the recipient of the 2025 BC Achievement Award for Applied Art + Design. ADDITION in Vancouver, Canada, represents his work.
