About the Item

As an acclaimed Quebec sculptor, Claude Millette is well known for his public artwork. Projection II is a fine example of Millette’s mastery in forging steel, his preferred material to create expressive, architectural sculptures. The three elegantly curved stainless steel beams in this piece appear to reach skyward. Millette has often used a dancer’s sensual choreography as a model for his own sculptural form. He is fascinated with the concepts of balance and imbalance and his intent is to challenge the viewer’s perception. “By deploying a minimum of material in space for maximum effect, by giving it sometimes exuberant movements, at the limits of balance, I call into question the notions of gravity and stability.” Claude Millette Claude Millette was born in Saint-Hyacinthe Quebec. He studied at the École de sculpture de Saint-Jean-Port-Joli and apprenticed with revered sculptors Robert Poulin and Jordi Bonet. Sculptor Claude Millette distinctive contemporary sculptures grace many public spaces in Canada. Millette was one of 14 artists invited to create work in celebration of the 250th anniversary of the Chapelle Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours in Quebec. Millette's works have been commissioned for many public art projects and have been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Canada, the U.S., Europe, and Mexico.

Bewitched - tall, modern, abstract, contemporary, aluminum outdoor sculpture

By Stephane Langlois

Located in Bloomfield, ON

Two organic shapes rise from the ground and reach for the sky in this finely crafted aluminum sculpture by Stephane Langlois. The abstract forms evoke the idea of two humans engaged in a dance, perhaps two birds, moving in response to one another. These sculptures are lively in the sunlight, moody in the evening light. They work well in sunny climates, and are also outstanding against the winter snow and light. Individual dimensions: pictured here, the left piece is 91 x 20 x 18 inches. The right piece is 91 x 19 x 21 inches. Stephane Langlois completed a bachelor's degree in psychology, in 2002, and a D.E.C in sculpture at the Maison des métiers d'art in Quebec City...
