About the Item

Green Cape Lady is a unique wood sculpture carved from elmwood from Hostetler's farm in Athens, OH. He used aniline dyes to "paint" on the hair and dress. He only carved one sculpture in this theme or form. It is in perfect condition having been in a museum's collection and donated by the original collector. She has a great attitude- with her head bent to the side, as if in conversation with you and listening to you. She was inspired by folk art with the frontal position, folklike legs planted in the ground and simple lines to define a hairdo. Lovely for a corner or front entry, end of a hallway to draw you in. Cape Lady will be in the Nantucket location until the beginning of October 2024.
