About the Item

Original colorful painted steel figurative sculpture with an abstract Pop Art figure and a playful graphic silhouette. Created by Spanish artist Héctor Francesch in 2024, Mr Stick belongs to La Vida Interior (Interior Life), a series in which imaginary characters, domestic references and geometric forms acquire an animated presence. The sculpture is made from cut and folded 3 mm steel and finished by hand with alkyd paint. A slender ochre vertical body rises from a circular metal base and supports a blue starburst-like head. A green horizontal element with circular openings, a yellow triangular plane and a small magenta accent complete the figure. These reduced shapes suggest eyes, limbs and clothing without defining them literally, leaving the character open to the viewer’s imagination. Francesch translates the directness of drawing and illustration into three dimensions. Crisp contours and carefully balanced negative space make the sculpture readable from a distance, while the lateral views reveal how its apparently flat elements occupy physical space. The compact construction combines visual humour with formal precision, positioning the work between contemporary figurative sculpture, geometric abstraction and post-pop art. Unlike Kubik’s broader, block-like construction, Mr Stick is deliberately narrow and vertical. Its elongated silhouette gives it a light, almost totemic presence and makes it especially effective where a tall accent is needed without occupying substantial surface space. The vivid colours and clear outline allow it to work equally well in a residential interior, office, library or design-focused collection. This is an original, unique artwork rather than an edition. Measuring 48 x 16 x 8 cm (18.90 x 6.30 x 3.15 in), it is conceived for freestanding display on a shelf, console, desk or pedestal.
