Henri Robert Marcel Duchamp as a French American Surrealist artist, chess player, and inventor who played a key role in the development of the avant-garde in the United States and in New York City Duchamp was the first artist to elevate a toilet to the status of an art form. The Readymade By the time of World War I, he had rejected the work of many of his fellow artists such as Henri Matisse as "retinal," intended only to please the eye. Instead, he wanted to use art to serve the mind. He is commonly regarded, along with Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque, as one of the three artists who helped to establish the post-industrial perspective in art history, and his work is considered the progenitor of Conceptual art. He was a central figure in numerous artistic groups in both countries—including Cubism, Dada, and Surrealism. Paul Suttman, a sculptor best known for Impressionist figurative works in bronze, Paul Suttman, who was born July 16, 1933, in Enid, Okla., earned his bachelor of fine arts degree from the University of New Mexico in 1956 and his master's degree from the Cranbrook Academy of Art in 1958. He also studied with the Italian sculptor Giacomo Manzu. As a young man, Mr. Suttman designed and built racing cars, worked as a draftsman for the Atomic Energy Commission (predecessor to the Department of Engery) and was an assistant of the architect Eero Saarinen. He had his first exhibition with the Donald Morris Gallery in Detroit in 1959 and from 1962 to 1973 exhibited regularly at the Terry Dintenfass Gallery in New York. They were an influential New York gallery known for championing modern and contemporary artists in the postwar period. Jacob Lawrence, Arthur Dove, Robert Gwathmey, Sidney Goodman, William King and Hyman Bloom. As well as Elisabeth Frink, Ben Shahn, Harold Tovish, Paul Suttman, Richard Hunt and Walter Williams Paul Suttman, who was awarded a Prix de Rome three times in the mid-1960s, lived in Italy from 1962 to 1975. His early work was sometimes compared with Rodin's and Renoir's because of its loose, Impressionistic surface. In the 1970s, his work became more precisely realistic and focused on life-size still lifes, often involving tables or tabletops, whose objects sometimes seem precariously balanced and about to fall. It was influenced by Pop Art Paul Suttman's work is represented in several public collections, including those of the Museum of Modern Art, the Morgan Library and the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington.

Marcello Morandín (Marcelo Román Morandín Paroni) was born in 1933 in Argentina. He was an important plastic artist and Argentine architect, distinguished in Mexico for being an excellent sculptor and furniture designer. At the end of his studies at the Faculty of Architecture of Buenos Aires, Argentina, he traveled to Mexico and settled in Xalapa, Veracruz. In this city he was part of several artistic projects and noted for being one of the founders of the Department of Aesthetic Research and Applied Design at the University of Veracruz, as well as the Department of Aesthetic Research at UNAM. Between the years 80 and 90, he carried out several monumental works, among them "La pigeon de la paz" a project for the UN; "The foundation of Tenochtitlan" located in front of the Official Residence of Los Pinos; and "The Kinetic Tower" Of the government of Veracruz that combines the light and the sound with diverse moving parts to the compass of the music of Arnold Schoenberg. Jose Marmol "An American Marriage" Hand signed and dated Painted bronze Provenance: Allan Stone Gallery, New York. It came with an inlaid art deco box also signed Marmol. I cannot find any conclusive biography of the artist. Allan Stone (1932–2006) was a legendary American art dealer, collector, and leading authority on Abstract Expressionism. In 1960, he founded the Allan Stone Gallery where he became renowned for his early advocacy of preeminent 20th-century artists. He championed artists such as John Chamberlain, Joseph Cornell, Willem de Kooning, Richard Estes, Arshile Gorky, John Graham, Eva Hesse, Franz Kline, Yasuhide Kobashi, Wayne Thiebaud, and Jack Whitten. He was also known for his zealous and eclectic approach to art collecting, amassing a collection that spanned painting, sculpture, assemblage, collage, folk art, Art Nouveau, Art Deco, furniture, mechanical parts, signs, and bugatti cars. At the time of his death, he had the largest collection of African and Oceanic art in private hands. His clientele included Robert Mallary, John Chamberlain, and Elaine de Kooning, During the gallery's first decade Stone showed established luminaries such as Willem de Kooning, César, Franz Kline, John Chamberlain, Barnett Newman, and Alfred Leslie.
