About the Item

Pietro Bazzanti (1842-1881) specialized in allegorical and genre subjects as well as copies of Antique and Renaissance sculpture. Regarded as one of the most talented sculptors of his day, his studio in Florence became a center for other important sculptors such as Ferdinando Vichi, Cesare Lapini and Guglielmo Pugi. Many of these sculptor's works are inscribed Galleria Bazzanti. The current work depicts 19th Century Antique Marble Bust, Apollo of Belvedere. Beautifully carved and very good condition and color Apollo was identified with the sun and with the light of truth, reason and conscience. Besides that, he was the god of beauty, of perfection, of harmony and balance. Of dimensions slightly above the natural, the Belvedere Apollo is in a dynamic attitude, as if walking.
