About the Item

Marble sculpture depicting Triton, fragmentary state, Italy, 17th century. Coming almost certainly from a fountain, as evidenced by the presence of holes for the passage of water, this figure with the features of a man with flowing hair is reminiscent of the Triton at the foot of Neptune, Bernini's famous sculpture. From the position of his head and arms we can guess that he must have been holding something he was wearing to his lips, probably a shell from which water was pouring out. Its incomplete nature makes it a fascinating object, tantalizing the imagination of the viewer who observes it. Measurements H Triton cm 26 L max cm 18 D max cm 15 H tot cm 48 plexi base cm 21 x 21
