Debbie Daniels is based in Friday Harbor, Washington and captures everyday moments from the San Juan Islands through her series of oil paintings. Her artwork, which often has a nautical theme, emphasizes keen attention to detail, both in subject matter and technique. She begins her process by taking photographs of daily life around the islands of northwestern Washington. After selecting a single photo as a reference, she begins drawing free hands on the canvas and finally paints in the details. The result yields a work done in such detail that it could be mistaken for photography. Debbie’s painting style recalls the original pioneers of the photorealism movement, such as Chuck Close, Gerhard Richter and John Baeder. Debbie’s work has been included in national and international juried shows in New York, Seattle, Washington and New Mexico. She is currently represented by UGallery.
