Among Portugal's textiles, perhaps none are as widely sought after as its needlepoint rugs - termed Arraiolos carpets - such as this vintage example. 

This needlepoint rig was handmade using the " Arralolos Stitch" a long-armed cross- stitch perfected by the needlewomen of Arralolos a town in southern portugal.
