An unusually large size lead glazed creamware bodied "Whieldon" pottery dish decorated with a tortoiseshell glaze and green and ochre carefully applied splodges.

The tortoiseshell decoration, also known as Whieldon ware, was developed by the English master potter Thomas Whieldon.
