Antique Italian wooden yarn winder / wool skein reel, dating from the 18th century, acquired from an antique dealer in Cortina d’Ampezzo and part of the A&MYART Collections since 1999. This rare textile tool was traditionally used to wind wool or yarn into skeins. The structure consists of a finely crafted wooden frame with rotating crossbars, turned supports, shaped feet, and a side-mounted handle mechanism, which enables the circular motion needed to wind the skein of wool around the four outer rods. Beyond its original functional purpose, the piece is now a highly decorative and sculptural object. Its articulated geometry, warm, weathered wood surface, and visible mechanical construction give it a strong architectural presence.
