With the MaRe, Swiss designer Christophe Marchand created one of the most distinctive lounge chairs of the early 2000s. The sculptural silhouette combines a lounge chair, chaise longue, and modern architectural statement into a piece of furniture designed for both relaxation and the staging of sophisticated interiors. Characteristic is the flowing line of the continuous reclining surface, whose sophisticated construction reinterprets the classic idea of the modern chaise longue.
This particular piece is in exceptionally well-maintained condition. The black leather is in excellent condition, impressing with its supple feel and attractive, subtle surface texture. The chrome-plated steel frame is also excellently preserved and underlines the high-quality appearance of this design icon. The contrasting light seams emphasize the precise lines of the design and lend the lounger additional elegance.
A special feature of the MaRe is its unique and technically sophisticated adjustment mechanism. Thanks to intelligent weight distribution, the position of the lounger can be changed completely steplessly – without levers, detents, or visible operating elements. The desired sitting or reclining position is adjusted solely by body weight and then reliably held. This innovative construction enables exceptionally intuitive operation and combines maximum comfort with the clear, reduced design language of the piece. The mechanism of this example functions perfectly and ensures an almost weightless relaxation experience.
