King Edward VII Royal Bluthner Piano Exhibited in Paris Exhibition 1900

Located in Leeds, GB

An 1899, Bluthner grand piano with a rosewood case, decorated with Art Nouveau and Empire style elements. It was showcased at the 1900 Paris Exposition Universelle. Piano bought by King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra in the Coronation year of 1902 to be situated in the ballroom of Malborough House. It was sold in 1936 to Major Maconochie in Bath. This piano is in great original condition having only had two previous owners. A rare opportunity to acquire a royal piano. The piano cheek side panel is inlaid with an Art Nouveau design featuring a stylised female head surrounded by whiplash lines and foliage. Musical instruments sit centrally in the design. Columnar, Empire style gilt mounts stand each side of the inlay. Napoleonic emblems of stars, palmettes and foliage feature here. Symmetrical female heads with flowing tresses and floral...

Dome Brickwork Design from Paris Expo – Architectural Print by Chabat, c.1900

Located in Langweer, NL

Dome Brickwork Design from Paris Expo – Architectural Print by Chabat, c.1900 This antique architectural print showcases the intricate decorative brickwork for the Dôme Central of the Exposition Universelle de 1889 in Paris, based on the architectural plans of J. Bouvard and published by Pierre Chabat in La Brique et la Terre Cuite around 1900. The plate presents a symmetrical and highly detailed tile and brickwork composition meant for the central dome structure of one of the most celebrated World's Fairs. Its striking centerpiece—featuring floral medallions surrounded by red brick, geometric panels, and accents of teal and ochre—reflects the era’s emphasis on ornamental detail, craftsmanship, and grandeur in public architecture. This print stands as a testament to the merging of utility and decoration in late 19th-century French architecture. These were not merely functional surfaces—they conveyed prestige, innovation, and the elegance of the modern age. The layout is accompanied by scale indicators and labeled sections, making it not only decorative but also an authentic record of the era’s architectural ambition. Perfect for collectors of French architectural prints...
