Louis Eugène Lambert Still-life Drawings and Watercolors

Louis-Eugene Lambert ( Paris , September 24, 1825-Paris, May 17, 1900) was a French animal painter. He was a student of Eugène Delacroix, he specialized in the representation of cats and dogs. He started at the Salon of 1847 and took the nickname of "Lambert of cats" or "Raphael of cats". His paintings had a great commercial success. Member of the French Society of Watercolor (1879-1896), his paintings are kept in major museums: British Museum , Luxembourg Museum , Musée des Beaux-Arts de Dijon , Musée des Beaux-Arts de Nantes , Stedelijk Museum , Brooklyn Museum , Art Museum Cincinnati , municipal Museum of fine arts of Ixelles , Museum of Clamecy etc. Friend of Maurice Sand , in 1844, he moved to Nohant at George Sand's house . Having to stay there for only one month, he will remain there fourteen years and will participate actively in the "Theater of Nohant" .
