Vintage Western Sterling Silver (4) Piece Belt Buckle Ensemble American C.1990's

Located in Incline Village, NV

Vintage western wear cowboy four piece "Ranger" belt ensemble; consisting of a marked sterling silver buckle and two belt "keepers" with a planished sterling silver tail; all assembled on a high quality finely grained medium brown leather lizard belt; which will accommodate sizes 34 through 38" comfortably. Best known for his Southwestern high quality designs, the belt was handcrafted by world famous silversmith, Paul Scibienski in 1995 who, has been in business for 40 years. Scibienski and his daughter provided luxury hand crafted items such as western cowboy style buckles for Alexander Kalifano; the latter having Scottsdale Arizona jewelry and gemstones handcrafted business roots since 1912. He was able to brand the high end exotic quality goods to luxury markets such as Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom. The belt ensemble is in excellent and all original condition with very little wear. The belt measures 40" from the end of the buckle to the first hole of which there are five; each spaced an 1" apart. The 1 1/4" belt tapers down to a 1" billet to facilitate a "planished in place" sterling silver tail piece to move easily through the sterling keeper. The tail, buckle, and "keeper" are in completely all original condition with no restoration of any kind. Please note all the marks engraved on the four silver pieces "Sterling Silver" and "Alexanders Belts & Buckles" "C. 1995" Buckle = 2" x 1 7/8" keeper 1 1/8" x 1/2" x 5/8" deep tail= 1 1/4": long Provenance: From my own personal collection of Western cowboy memorabilia...

Western Wear St Silver/14k Gold Belt & Buckle by "Bohlin, Hollywood Ca" C.1940's

Western Wear St Silver/14k Gold Belt & Buckle by "Bohlin, Hollywood Ca" C.1940's

By Edward H. Bohlin

Located in Incline Village, NV

Rare find and highly sought after vintage western wear cowboy, three piece "Ranger Buckle" and leather belt set; made by the iconic and most famous 20th century luxury belt maker, Edward H. Bohlin (marked) of Hollywood, California during the heyday and "Golden Age of Western Wear" mid century production period, and "made for the stars" during the 1940's; when such articles were made for cowboy screen actors like Tom Mix, John Wayne, and Roy Rodgers et al. The "Bohlin" logo (see images) used on all three pieces is the shield image utilized by the company from 1930 --1950's, so this is one of the earlier and more desirable Bohlin western wear collectibles. The company was founded in California in 1920 by Edward H. Bolin who sought to capitalize on the "cowboy" interest and fashion phenomenon taking over the west, by making fine quality western wear luxury goods for the wealthy. He quickly became recognized for his fine silversmithing (referred to as the "silversmith to the stars") and a known expert in applying gold filigree overlays, as is evident on the 14k gold rope edges designed on this belt. This high end belt is replete with fine quality .925 sterling silver and 14k gold accents to the etched and perimeter twisted rope edge design of the buckle which is hand engraved scroll work pattern in a floral motif "Western Rose" pattern . The set is complete with the original buckle, the keeper, and tail piece which are similarly and elaborately decorated; in addition to a hand made 1 1/4" wide tool and dyed black leather belt in a classic basket weave pattern pattern; which tapers down to a 1" billet to accommodate the tail and entry through the keeper hardware assembly. The three piece set was catalogued as Model 1173E "Parade Series and was Bohlin's finest quality. The condition is excellent and all original; the silver is intact and fine looking, the sparkling 14k gold highlights and the belt show very little wear; in fact, there is no apparent single "wear line" where one owner might have worn the belt for an extended period of time. If you are looking for the best, you need look no further. The belt comfortably fits a size 34" through 38" waist line. It measures 46 1/2" long; the first prong hole where the tongue passes through is 39" from the end of the buckle and there are five holes after that each spaced 1" apart. The rest of the measurements are: buckle= 2" deep x 1 3/4" high keeper= 3/4" wide x 7/8" high tail (billet)= 1/1/4" long Provenance: From my own personal collection of Western cowboy...

The buckle and keepers have 18k gold star accents with garnets and amethysts. Made to fit a 1” belt. Price is for buckle set only. Belts are sold separately. About the Artist Mona Van Riper was raised in Santa Fe and Taos, New Mexico. She began silver-smithing at the Mabel Dodge Lujan House in Taos in 1976. Making and designing jewelry has been a constant part of her life ever since. Mona is most well-known for her elaborate and intricate buckles, whether with a western theme, crown, fleur-de-lis, heart or with her eponymous skulls. Most of the country’s finest buckle makers—often artisans who learned the skills from their fathers and grandfathers—ply their craft in remote locales, often in obscurity. Mona Van Riper fits that profile. She creates one-of-a-kind turquoise, 18-karat gold, and sterling silver buckles in a 10-by-10-foot utility room in her home located on a dirt road, miles outside of Santa Fe, N.M. Mona’s early jewelry was heavy stamped Southwestern style made from hand-cast ingots and coins. Over the years her style has developed into a more sophisticated and contemporary look while maintaining her signature old-world flavor. In 1992 Mona introduced engraving into her work which has given her jewelry a broader appeal. Mona’s unique jewelry is made from sterling silver in combination with 18 karat gold overlays and engraving. She often uses rare and very high-grade custom cut turquoise in her pieces. Mixing precious and semi-precious stones also gives her jewelry a timeless look. You will find notable differences in quality between artisan-made belt buckles and those that major luxury brands’ machines churn out by the thousands. Handmade solid silver and...
