About the Item

Rendered in the most delightful shades of lilac set against a dove grey background, this original 1950's floral water silk dress is just the piece to add to your vintage collection. The rounded neckline of the dress sets off the elegant pleats along the front of the décolletage and bust-line. The simple short length sleeves are edged with small V shaped vents and delicate bows. The fitted and double boned bodice of the dress draws the eye to the cinched in waistline. The cross over design of the skirt, boasts diagonal pleats that run from beneath the front of the waistline, and set off the diagonal cut of the top panel of the skirt, which folds across the base panel, completing this dress in a timeless and iconic silhouette. The back of the dress features a pointed seam detail along the centre back of the waistline. This dress is lined in pale pink rayon. Label: None Measurements of the Dress Armpit to Armpit: up to 34 inches Shoulder to Hem: 40.5 inches Waist: up to 26 inches Hips: up to 40 inches Shoulder to End of Sleeve: 6 inches Size: UK 8 US 4 Closures: This dress fastens along the back with a 17 inch metal zip and a hook and loop Condition: This dress is in good but not perfect vintage condition. Yellowing to the silk beneath both sleeves along the armpits. A small pin hole to the top of the left hand sleeve. A pin sized age mark to the back centre of the dress along the hemline. A scattering of age marks along the top panel of the skirt at hip height, these are surrounded my small age marks. These minor details are not overly apparent when the dress is being worn as they are well concealed within the print and the lustre of the water silk.
