About the Item

This black shearling vest was created by Christiane Dechavassine in her Geneva atelier and showcases her ability to combine artisanal precision with a free, bohemian spirit. Made from reversed sheepskin, the piece is fully reversible, revealing on one side a soft, matte leather finish and on the other a dense, velvety shearling with natural volume and warmth. Its asymmetrical, shepherd-inspired cut gives it an organic, sculptural shape that moves gracefully with the body. The design blends rustic inspiration with modern refinement a hallmark of Dechavassine’s later work. Every line feels intentional yet spontaneous, balancing the raw texture of the material with a sense of fluid elegance. The absence of sleeves emphasizes its versatility: it can be worn open over a sweater or belted for a more structured silhouette, adapting effortlessly from casual to sophisticated settings. Known in Geneva for her meticulous restoration of furs, Dechavassine also pursued original design projects that expressed her disciplined yet creative sensibility. This vest is one of her final creations, completed before she closed her atelier in 2024.
