About the Item

This wonderful fully hand-sewn Japanese black silk kimono jacket is detailed with hand-braided cord on the interior which is lined with prints of "Scenes of Japan" with a cream silk background. The exterior has accented of hand-painted flowers and leafs. The total length measures 29 1/2", neck-to-sleeves's cuff is 22 1/2", cuff circumference is 35", collar band is 2 1/4", underarm circumference is 49". Totally hand-sewn and made in Japan.

A vintage Japanese silk Kuro Tomesode Kimono, circa 1960s-1980s. Kuro Tomesode is a dress for married woman for the most formal occasions, equivalent of the evening gowns in the west. It is overall black, decorated only with patterns of bright colors on the bottom. This kimono has three Mon family crests on the front and back shoulder. It is lined with white silk in its interior.
