About the Item

With bright red color and an antique patina, this round footed bowl is a sculptural example of traditional Burmese lacquer ware. Dated to the early 20th century, the storied container has a tapered, square-to-round form, shaped with sloping sides, four short feet and a raised edge along the rim. The under layer of woven bamboo adds a subtle ridged texture to the thickly lacquered finish. The lightweight vessel is wonderful today as a decorative basket, centerpiece or catch-all, its surface now richly aged from use. Additional Dimensions: Diameter of Opening: 9"
