About the Item

Folding screen Material: Paper, wooden frame, etc 1 piece: Width 610 x Height 1740 x Depth 20 mm Expanded size: Width 3700 mm Folded size: Width 630 x Height 1740 x Depth 110 mm, weight 13 kg Packaging (5-10 mm thick plywood sandwiched): 17 cm x 67 cm x 182 cm, weight 28 kg The artist is Fukano Chido 「深野知堂」, who is said to have studied and refined the art of the Southern School of Chinese painting through his studies of famous Ming and Qing dynasties. This ink painting depicts bamboo on a beautiful gold background. This masterpiece by Chido expresses a sense of humidity and depth through the use of shades of ink. The poem reads something like "水辺攅緑葔林下~," but due to many indecipherable parts, it is unclear who wrote it. Perhaps it means something like "In the shade of the waterside forest, sheltered from the sun, lush greenery grows thickly..." This is a pair of paintings, but they are sold individually. This is the right panel. There is a small tear and scuffing at the bottom. Please contact us for details. There is some fading and what appears to be a stain on the back. As this is an old piece, there may be some wear and tear, so please check the photos for details. *Please handle folding screens with care as the joints are prone to weakening. It is a special technique in which the folding screen is connected with paper instead of hinges. The outermost backing paper is easily sunburned. ▲▲ Notes ▲▲ *In order to build a relationship of trust with our customers, please be sure to contact us via the inquiry form before purchasing.
