About the Item

Mid-19th century woodblock print of Onoe Kikugoro V signed Kagawa Toyoshige Kitsu. The famed Kabuki actor is playing the role of Banzuinin Chobei (or similar), a legendary street hero who fought against the samurai. Ilustrated by the Utagawa school artist Toyoshige. Provenance: Troy Art Gallery, Royal Oak, MI, 1992. Trimmed print: 14" x 9 1/8". Not examined out of the frame. Frame: 21.5" x 16 1/8".
