About the Item

19th or 20th century Chinese Qing hand crafted bamboo brush pot carved in deep relief with various scenes against the background of a bamboo forest. Two scholars standing on the patio of a pavilion contemplate the garden. Two other scholars are shown walking among the rocks the opposite side. The beautifully carved bamboo trees tower above and make up most of the scene. The reverse etched with calligraphic inscriptions. Several age cracks in the wood but nothing structural and all carving is in great condition with no chips or missing pieces. Nice color and deep glowing patina. A wonderful decorative piece, makes and excellent vase for dry flowers. 6.5" high by 4 diameter
