the charming wooden model depicting the traditional Japanese temple architecture called the "Five-story Pagoda" (Gojunotu) with each level symbolizing the five elements of the Buddhist universe: sky, wind, fire, water and earth; featuring a graduated series of delicate roof shapes with deep eaves all supported by a central pillar (Shimbashira); a similar example in the permanent collection at the Spurlock Museum of World Cultures, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Artifact Identification: Model of a Pagoda (1993.20.0020)  excellent vintage condition with overall minor wear
