About the Item

A substantial vintage cast iron doorstop modeled as a gathered sheaf of wheat, with individually cast grain heads, textured stalks, and a flared base. The warm bronze-toned painted finish is accented by a striking verdigris-green foliate band, giving the piece the appearance of a well-aged Victorian decorative object. Dating to the late 20th century, this handsome interpretation of a traditional harvest motif would lend weight and character to an English country entry, farmhouse kitchen, garden room, or boot room. It is decorative enough to display beside a hearth or paneled doorway while retaining its original practical purpose.
