A reclaimed blacksmith-made wrought iron fire basket of rounded form with scroll detail to the sides. Dating from circa 1820, this antique fire grate is more than 200 years old and offers a glimpse into early 19th century England! Ironwork made from wrought iron has stood the test of time. This traditional method of craftsmanship sees the metal heated to a high temperature and then hammered into shape by a blacksmith’s hand, creating a robust and durable finish. The more wrought iron is worked, the stronger it becomes, making some of the most ornate antique ironwork some of the strongest.
