Federal Style cast and polished brass hearth bench or trivet with a pierced floral top, pierced floral border skirt, and terminating on cabriole legs with stylized penny feet, Mid-19th century. Hearth Bench or trivet Typically used in the 19th century for ladies boarding into a horse drawn carriage. Today trivet and hearth benches may be used as a decorative piece near fireplace.
