About the Item

This stone basin was carved by hand nearly two centuries ago, sculpted from solid limestone to an unusual horseshoe shape. The exterior is patterned with irregular texture and chiseled grooves, softening to a smooth interior due to years of use as a water trough. Originally placed on a provincial Chinese farm as a trough for livestock, the stone basin is ideal today as a statement water feature, sink basin or garden planter, contrasting delicate foliage with the hard permanence of stone. The flat side of its half-moon shape makes the stone vessel especially suitable for placing against a wall or corner. Drilled with a single drainage hole.
