About the Item

Circa 1810-1820 French Empire tole monteith. Originally for chilling wine glasses, it can be used for many purposes from a decorative bowl to a jardiniere. Decorated with gilt grape leaves & vines on scarlet lacquere. Loop handles. Tole peinte work is painted & lacquered sheet metal. The condition is commensurate with age & medium, areas of base metal showing & paint wear. 13" x 7.5" x 4.5" h.
