About the Item

This Italian mid-century magazine basket is a distinctive example of the bamboo and rattan work associated with Franco Albini and his contemporaries. A large rounded rectangular handle arch rises from an open basket body, flanked by two smaller decorative arched elements that lend the piece its layered silhouette. The bentwood bamboo frame is joined throughout with tightly wound rattan bindings, their warm honey tones contrasting pleasingly with the darker bamboo poles. The basket floor is constructed of closely spaced rattan reed, woven into a flat, sturdy base.
