About the Item

Article: set of 2 Brass metal shell plate element with abstract pattern DESIGN AND PRODCUER: HAYNO FOCKEN Hayno Focken completed his initial training at the Berlin Art Academy before continuing his studies for another two years under Professor Karl Müller (1888–1972) at the Burg Giebichenstein School of Design and Art in Halle (Saale)—an institution linked to the ideas of the Deutscher Werkbund and the Bauhaus. From 1932 onwards, he worked as an independent metal artist in Lahr, Baden-Württemberg. Focken primarily created liturgical objects (such as candlesticks, altar crucifixes, cruets, vessels for the Host, bowls, etc.). Other works, such as his silver coffee pot from 1949, reflect the "streamline" style of Art Deco.[1] In the early 1960s, he created the main portal for the Protestant City Church in Offenburg (based on a design by the Heidelberg artist Harry MacLean), and did the same in 1965 for the Spitalkirche in Baden-Baden. For the water tower at Friedrichsplatz in Mannheim, he crafted a replica of the Amphitrite figure atop the roof, which had been destroyed during the war.
