A silver-plated vide poche by Maria Pergay, circa 1960s. Sculpted in brass with a high polish and soft curves, the form is cinched at one end by a cast buckle and belt—a signature Pergay motif. Maria Pergay Maria Pergay (b. 1930) is a pioneering French designer celebrated for transforming stainless steel and metalwork into sensuous, sculptural forms. Rising to prominence in the 1960s, Pergay brought a jeweler’s precision and a couturier’s imagination to furniture and decorative objects, creating pieces that feel both boldly modern and quietly poetic. Her signature motifs—belts, buckles, ribbons—reveal her talent for softening rigorous materials with unexpected grace. Today, her work is held in major collections worldwide and remains highly sought after for its elegance, craftsmanship, and unmistakable point of view.
