About the Item

A striking mid-century decorative plate by French ceramicist Marcel Giraud, dating from the 1960s. The design features a rustic, even-glazed centre and outer band in oatmeal tones, both accented with subtle concentric circles. Between these borders, a series of textured geometric segments form the stylised petals of a sunflower motif, lending the piece both rhythm and warmth. The rim carries a matching hue and an incised, rope-like repeating pattern, adding further visual and tactile interest. The markings and palette are characteristic of Giraud’s hand, making this a fine and representative example of his work. In good overall condition, with ‘Giraud’ incised to the underside. The reverse also includes a ceramic loop for optional wall display. Giraud’s ceramics are increasingly sought after, as collectors and design enthusiasts alike recognise the artistic creativity and craftsmanship embodied in his work. Please enjoy the many photos accompanying this listing. Upon request a video will be provided.
